EVILE Dedicates New Song To BLOODSTOCK Festival
August 5, 2011British thrashers EVILE have dedicated one of the songs from their new album, "Five Serpent's Teeth", to the U.K.'s Bloodstock festival. Fans attending the festival next weekend will be among the first people to hear the brand new track, titled "Centurion", as it will be played through the PA system between bands on the main stage throughout the festival.
EVILE frontman Matt Drake spoke to Bloodstock to explain the meaning behind the new track and why it was dedicated to the U.K.'s favorite all-metal festival. Check out the clip below.
Stated Drake: "Bloodstock festival has always been good to our little band EVILE and we can't thank them enough for the chance they gave us way back in 2006 to headline the unsigned stage, which ultimately put us on course to being able to have a go at some of the things we've done. So when we had recorded the song called 'Centurion', it made us think about Bloodstock there's just something about that track that made us feel 'Bloodstocky'. It might be the epicness, or the subject matter, or just the sheer 'taking it seriously while not taking it seriously' shamelessness of the song. Maybe all those things! But it made us think about Bloodstock all the same, so we would like to dedicate the song to Bloodstock festival as a thank you for being so good with our rock quartet over the years! Bloodstock is an amazing place; long may it continue!"
Bloodstock's Vicky Gregory has issued the following statement: "Nothing gives us more excitement and pleasure to see the success of EVILE; the band stormed through our unsigned competition at Bloodstock and have never looked back! We expect great things from them and, having heard tracks from the new album, they won't disappoint!"
The cover artwork for "Five Serpent's Teeth", the third full-length album from EVILE, can be seen below. The CD was once again recorded with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR) at Parlour Studios in Kettering, U.K. and is scheduled for release on September 26 via Earache Records.
Regarding the new album cover, EVILE vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matt Drake stated, "As is always the case with EVILE, we try and do things a bit differently from what we've done before, so we fancied something a bit more design-orientated this time around. It's been done by a great artist by the name of Gustavo Sazes and he really came through for us as we were struggling to find something that visually accompanied the music, so hats off to the man! Make what you will of any meaning you think the cover may hold, much the same as you will be able to do with the lyrical content of the album; we know what it means to us, so enjoy!"

Commented EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake: "There's such diversity through this album that I simply can't wait for people to hear these tracks. We spent a long time in the studio and at home figuring out the best order we could place these tracks in to flow perfectly through the album. The tracks go from the stomping heaviness of 'Cult' to the eeriness/melancholy of 'In Memoriam' to the pure insanity of 'Descent Into Madness'."
